CBCT imaging produces detailed images of the desired area in the mouth. CBCT imaging is a helpful addition in situations where other x-ray techniques have failed to offer the level of information needed for diagnosis and treatment. CBCT imaging also produces less radiation exposure than a number of other x-ray techniques.

Among other things, CBCT imaging is used for planning dental implants and surgical procedures and for diagnosing infections and joint complaints. The imaging can increase the safety and efficiency of surgery and other procedures, for example by enabling the dentist to analyse the root anatomy of a wisdom tooth before extracting it. In addition, the imaging can help examine root canal structures for root canal treatment or find the location of an unerupted tooth.

X-ray imaging always requires a dentist’s referral.
